The flamingos (Phoenicopteridae) are a family of large, stilted wading birds. All species are characterised by their long necks, hook-shaped bills and pink plumage. The family counts six species. Four flamingo species are distributed across America, including the Caribbean, and two species are native to Africa, Asia and parts of Europe.
