Floodplains of the Dutch river Waal. The photo was taken from the Waaldijk on the Herwijnense Bovenwaard near the village of Herwijnen, municipality of West Betuwe, Tielerwaard region of the Betuwe, province of Gelderland. The small lake, a so-called clay pit, was created in the last century after the excavation of clay for the stone industry. There was still some morning mist when the photo was taken at the end of the summer season.
