Flowers in the Morning Mist by Color Square

The work depicts a lush, almost dreamlike flower meadow in which countless tiny flowers blend into a soft mist of blue, green and white. The composition has no distinct horizon; flowers, stems and background gradually blend into one another. This creates the sensation of standing in the middle of a field, gazing at the flowers through a light morning mist. The white and pale blue blossoms are built up with loose, visible brushstrokes. Some flowers are clearly recognisable, whilst others consist of just a few touches of colour. It is precisely this variety that gives the work its depth. Dark green areas at the bottom and along the sides form a striking contrast with the light-coloured flowers and the greyish-blue background.
A lovely detail is the long, fragile stems that rise above the denser mass of flowers. Small buds and individual leaves seem almost weightless as they hang from these lines. Here and there, subtle pink and cream accents appear amongst the cool blues and greens, making the whole scene feel warmer and more vibrant.
The Impressionist painting style makes the work less of a botanical record and more of a memory of a summer garden. Flowers, nature, soft colours and light combine to form a romantic and tranquil scene in which tranquillity, freshness and the fragility of blossoms take centre stage.
