Yellow fluffy chick of a few days old, just away from mother chicken discovers the mirror. Breeding normally takes 21 days. But sometimes eggs hatch sooner or later. As soon as a chick starts squeaking in the egg, it doesn't take long before it pecks its way out. It does this with a special egg tooth on its beak. After birth, this tooth disappears again. Pecking the shell is quite a job for the unborn chick. That is why after the first hole, the chicks often rest for a few hours before they continue pecking. The birth sometimes takes up to 24 hours. The first 24 hours you don't see the little ones very often. In that period they only need the warmth of the mother hen.
