This photo shows a beautiful, peaceful and serene morning scene on the Duurswold Drainage Canal in Schildwolde in the province of Groningen. The canal, dug between 1869 and 1871 for water drainage, is a central element in this Groningen landscape. Along the bank, Fluitenkruid (Anthriscus Sylvestris) blooms profusely, its delicate white flowers looking like "Dutch lace". This plant thrives on moist, nutrient-rich soil along waterways, and the construction of nature-friendly banks has contributed to these blooms. A beautiful layer of mist covers the land, softening the contours and giving the scene a dreamlike, serene image with a row of trees in the background. The Flutes powder adds a nice depth to the picture. Above the mist, the sky is filled with soft, muted colours, such as soft pink and silver-grey due to the early hours of that morning. Together, the canal, the flowering Fluteweed, the mist and the soft air colours create a harmonious and peaceful picture of the Groningen landscape. It is a moment of silence and exquisite natural beauty.
