About ‘Fragmentism: Einstein’ by Koeien van Klaas

In this *Fragmentismo*, Albert Einstein does not appear as the familiar black-and-white portrait of the famous scientist, but as an image reconstructed from colour, contrast and fragments. His distinctive face remains instantly recognisable, whilst large parts of his figure disappear into the deep blue.

Red, dark blue and warm cream divide the original image into separate planes. Some details remain sharply defined, whilst others are reduced to just a few lines or disappear entirely. It is precisely what is missing that compels the eye to complete the portrait itself.

Einstein has become more than a historical figure. His face has almost come to symbolise intelligence, curiosity, individuality and the ability to think outside the box. As a result, he fits particularly well within the Fragmentismo movement. Here, too, reality is not simply depicted, but taken apart and re-examined.

The red frame and the dark inner surface reinforce the sense that Einstein is simultaneously emerging from the image and disappearing into it. A familiar face breaks down into fragments, yet remains unmistakably Einstein. It is precisely in what disappears that recognition arises.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
