Franz von Stuck (1863-1928) was an important German symbolist, painter and sculptor of the late 19th and early 20th century. Known for his Symbolist works with mythological and religious motifs, he combined elements of Art Nouveau and Neoclassicism. Stuck was also active as a teacher and had a significant influence on the art scene of his time. He founded the Munich artists' association "Die Scholle" and taught at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, where he exerted great influence on the art scene of his time.
