This picture was taken in one of the oldest Japanese gardens in Japan. The garden dates from 1603-1867 from the Edo era. Located next to Kanazawa Castle, the park is really quite special. This shrub in this photo has a diameter of about 30 metres and is propped up on all sides to avoid falling over.
The photo was taken from the bottom to show the size of the shrub -because that's what it is-. Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa is where this shrub stands.
