Frostastaðavatn is a lava-fringed lake in Iceland. It is located in the desolate Icelandic interior, not far from the famous coloured mountains of Landmannalaugar, the colourful Ljótipollur and the volcano Hekla. means 'hot springs in the land of the people from the area Land' (an area around the town of Hella).
Landmannalaugar is a valley in Iceland's interior, east of the famous Hekla volcano.
The valley is lava-covered and surrounded by yellow, brown red, green and grey-blue rhyolite mountains.
A characteristic of this rock is that already a little sunlight makes the mountains light up, so to speak, which often makes them look very "bright".
