Frozen anchor on S/V Northern Lights. The Noorderlicht is a two-masted ship from 1910 in the striking colors of red and yellow. The ship is used as an expedition sailing vessel in Spitsbergen (Svalbard) and Norway.
The metal bow makes the ship suitable for sailing through waters with large ice floes and ice formations. Due to the extreme cold, the anchor on the ship is partially covered by ice formation.
