Freezing of watercourses may refer to:
the process by which, as a result of solidification, a continuous ice cover is formed on watercourses and bodies of water, also known as ice formation;
the period of freezing; the period during which there is a continuous ice cover on waterways and other bodies of water.
The duration of the ice cover and the thickness of the ice depend on a number of factors:
The duration of the frost period and the temperature trend during the winter (such as the amount of frost and the number of ice days);
the nature of the body of water
the thickness of the ice;
