About ‘Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine Kyoto’ by Stella Ammerlaan

This picture of the Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine in Kyoto magically depicts the famous path with torii gates. Which has circled The Inari Mountain for 4 kilometres in Kyoto since 711 AD. The paths are surrounded by thousands of vibrant red-orange torii gates, black kanji characters engraved on each gate. The gates form a series of striking, closely spaced arches that create a tunnel-like effect.

Light filters through the gaps between the gates and casts a muted light on the stone path below. through the sleek posts, the picture exudes a modern, but also serene and sacred atmosphere. The overall atmosphere of the picture is one of calm, spirituality and connection to Japan, inviting viewers to imagine the peaceful silence interrupted only by the gentle rustling of leaves and the chirping of birds in the distance.
