I was able to take this photo in glorious winter weather with sunshine and a blue sky. It shows the ski area on the Zugspitzplatt and the Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. Experience the unique magic of the Zugspitzplatt - captured in an impressive photo that harmoniously combines alpine expanse, sporting elegance and quiet contemplation. Against the majestic backdrop of the Zugspitze, one of the highest ski resorts in Germany stretches out: snow-covered pistes, glistening slopes and an atmosphere that promises freedom and adventure. In the midst of this imposing mountain world, the Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary stands as a quiet antithesis to the dynamism of the ski resort. It lends the motif a special depth and reminds us that the mountains are not only a place for top sporting achievements, but also for tranquillity, contemplation and inspiration. The photo captures the special moment when nature, people and spirituality come together. The clear light of the high altitude makes the colours appear intense, while the chapel with its simple beauty forms an emotional anchor.

At 2962 metres above sea level, the Zugspitze is the highest peak in the Wetterstein mountain range and Germany's highest mountain. The Zugspitze massif lies to the south-west of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The lowest point of the ski area is at the valley station of the Brunntal lift at around 2000 metres, the highest point at the Schneefernerkopf lift at 2720 metres.
