The water gauge tower in Cologne is one of 22 main water gauges on the Rhine in Germany. It was built in 1951 and is now a landmark on the left bank of the Rhine in Cologne's historic city centre. It indicates the water level of the Rhine. A floating body transmits the water level of the Rhine to the water gauge. The picture shows the water level tower and the water level gauge with the inscription "Pegel Köln". It has survived for many years and is almost a small relic from days gone by, but it still does its job reliably.
Definitely a piece of Cologne and well worth seeing!
