Geerte Church

by Domstad Rudie

This digital artwork depicts the serene interior of the Geertekerk in an impressive interplay of light and form. On the left-hand side of the image, a realistic candlestick dominates the scene; it is meticulously crafted from polished brass, with intricate arms and delicate ornamentation. The candlestick hangs above an elegant pulpit, whose wood carvings are beautifully highlighted in the soft sunlight.

On the right-hand side, a large stained-glass window catches the eye. The sun’s rays stream powerfully through the colourful glass and project a vibrant mosaic of red, blue and gold onto the natural stone floor. The light lending the whole scene an almost sacred atmosphere, with the colours dancing across the walls and bringing the church’s basic structure to life.

Church pews have been deliberately omitted from the image, so that the space feels open, quiet and monumental. The focus is entirely on the interplay between the clean lines of the architecture, the sparkle of the candlestick and the warm, tranquil splendour of the incoming light.

With meticulous attention to texture and the play of light, the work offers a realistic yet poetic depiction of a centuries-old space full of contemplation and tranquillity.
