One of the most beautiful areas in Scotland to visit is the area around Glencoe, in the middle of the Scottish Highlands. Glen means valley, so Glencoe is the valley of the river Glen. Glencoe is a much visited area. Much less known is the tributary valley, Glen Etive. Via an 18 mile long very narrow dead end road you drive via the river Glen through the valley to finally end at loch Etive. The whole road is a succession of beautiful landscapes, which are so typical of this area. Rivers, waterfalls, high bare mountains and lakes. and often you can enjoy this all by yourself. Lovely!
