What do you see at work?
A vast field of grain fills the entire image, right up to the horizon. The ears dance in the soft light, creating an almost hypnotic texture. The soft focus gives the scene a dreamy, almost ethereal feel.
What was your inspiration for this work?
While driving through the Provençal hills, I came across this field of wheat, bathed in light. The image reminded me of Impressionist paintings - a moment caught in motion. This work was born out of a deep peace and a desire to merge with nature.
What mood are you trying to set?
An atmosphere of calm, endlessness and tranquillity. No horizon to distract you, no sound except that of rustling culms. The work feels almost like a meditation.
Describe the emotion or message you want to convey with this work.
It symbolises letting go - everything around you becomes silent for a moment. The repetition and rhythm of the spikes give comfort and stability. For me, this work represents acceptance and finding beauty in the ordinary.
Did you use a particular technique?
I chose a relatively high shutter speed and aperture here to emphasise the texture of the ears, but with a small depth of field for a poetic effect. Natural light played a key role in this work.
What makes this work special in an interior?
The soft colour palette and soothing repetition make this work perfect for a minimalist or Scandinavian interior. It invites reflection and tranquillity.
