The beautiful Venetian old town is made up of a total of 118 small islands and is famous for its rich art and architecture, which has attracted numerous tourists since the 18th century. Venice is home to some of Italy's most famous landmarks, such as St. Mark's Basilica, the Doge's Palace around St. Mark's Square. In the middle of Venice and right on the Grand Canal, you can explore the city in a very special way - on a gondola ride.
The famous gondola is a traditional flat-bottomed rowing boat, perfect for the conditions of the Venetian lagoon. Usually, the gondolas are steered by a gondolier with a long oar - sometimes accompanied by cheerful singing. The asymmetrical shape of the boats may seem unbalanced, but it allows the gondola to glide smoothly over the water. Today, Venetian gondolas are the symbol of the city, embodying history, tradition and romance.
