The church built from the year 1410 is a national monument belonging to the Top 100 Dutch national monuments.
The photo was taken on a sunny day in spring from the Willem Merkxtuin, an oasis of peace in Breda's city center. The Merkxtuin is named after Willem Merkx who was mayor from 1967 to 1983 and laid out in 1985. The garden is more or less hidden behind the former courtyard houses in Catharinastraat, Sint Annastraat and Veemarktstraat and can be reached through three gates. The garden is adjacent to the backyards of the local residents. Because of its semi-public character and out of respect for the privacy of the residents, the garden is only open to the public to a limited extent.
