At the end of the afternoon when the light gave off a golden glow, I was able to capture this grebe.
A very rewarding bird to photograph. It's always a surprise what you come across when you're wandering through a nature reserve, so you often have very little time to get a nice picture despite your preparations being as optimal as possible. I saw this grebe approaching in a small ditch. I lay down on my belly at the water's edge as quickly as possible to get the lowest possible angle. Luckily, the bird gave me plenty of time!
