Green stillness amidst sparkling bubbles

by But First Framing

Pale green, oval centres with a dark green skin are surrounded by bright bubbles. Some bubbles are small and round, whilst others form larger, irregular loops. They touch one another and together form a delicate network. Light glints off the thin edges, whilst the soft sage-green background lends the whole a sense of calm.

The cores display subtle variations in colour and surface texture. Their light-coloured interior appears smooth and solid, whilst the dark outer layer is rougher. Nestled between them are the almost weightless bubbles. This interplay of solid forms and fragile shells makes the image captivating. It feels as though you are stepping into a hidden world, where small details are given free rein.

Shades of green, cream and white highlights lend the work a fresh, serene quality. The spacious background allows the curved lines and natural forms to stand out clearly. Your gaze follows the continuous chain of bubbles, discovering ever-smaller curves along the way. Some appear as if they were bright pearls nestled amongst the larger forms. What makes this work special is the interplay between a tangible, natural surface and the translucent world surrounding it. In this way, a simple interplay of colour, light and form takes on an almost dreamlike softness.
