Many older Maassluizers may well remember the harbor tug Maassluis (or Maassluisje). The small but powerful harbor tug was specially built for work in and around the Maassluis harbor.
She sailed under her own name in Rotterdam until 1978, when a Limburg entrepreneur bought her. Eventually the Maassluis ended up in Limburg under the Belgian flag with the insignificant name D16. In 2011, the tug was brought back to Maassluis by Stichting Maritiem Erfgoed Maassluis (Maassluis Maritime Heritage Foundation) and fully restored with the original exterior features.
After years of service, she now lies in her home port of Maassluis.
