About the artwork

I took this evening photo in Harderwijk harbour, I was standing on a jetty on the side of the Havendam myself. The jetty I was standing on has been removed due to changes in the harbour. It happened to be cloudless moment so the famous blue hour could be seen, it was even windless so a reflection in the water could be seen. This spot is so close to my home that I could walk there, I even walked across the little bridge. The little bridge is the old wooden pedestrian bridge that they replaced with a new steel bridge. As you can see, there is also a windmill at the harbour, the building in front of it is the botter shed of the botter foundation. The Harderwijk mill is not on the spot where mills have always stood in Harderwijk. You can even see a botter in front of it that they took out of the water for maintenance. The little bridge in the picture is a pedestrian bridge over the harbour, by now the little bridge has been removed and if all goes well, a new bridge will take its place. It was also used by tourists to get to the Dolfinarium and the old centre of Harderwijk. The harbour across which this bridge was located is the Vissershaven; fishermen used to moor their boats at the quay. The harbour has changed several times over the years. I used a long shutter speed of 30 seconds for this photo and, of course, a tripod.
