This Harvest mouse, which naturally likes to climb grain stalks, was balancing to stay on top. The mouse stands out nicely in the green surroundings
The Harvest mouse has a two-coloured fur. The top is yellow-brown to orange-brown and the underside is white to dirty white. These two colour are clearly separated from each other (this dividing line is called the demarcation line). The fur is darker in winter than in summer. The Harvest mouse has a long, agile, tail that is bicoloured and has a tuft which wears off with age. The eyes are small and the snout is blunt. The auricles barely protrude from the fur and are small and hairy. The Harvest mouse uses its tail as a grasping organ.
