Despite the fact that le Hasard was already closed in 1977, everything is still great. Most of the buildings date from the beginning of the last century. The former mine stands on a slope in the urbex village of Cheratte near Liège. The colliery complex is located under the adjoining hills unfortunately the access to it is closed. Opposite the closed gate at the entrance are a number of (inhabited) houses. At the former entrance there is a sign warning for watchdogs.
Thanks to this beautiful building and easy access Hasard Cheratte is one of the largest Urbex Mecca's in Europe. There are a few options to enter. First of all, it is important to say that there are rumors that watchdogs sometimes walk around here. I have never seen them, nor have I come across any stories that really confirm this.
