Goshawk, an adult can have a length between 49 and 66 cm. A goshawk has short, broad wings and a long, almost rectangular tail. An adult goshawk has a white line above the eye, a black crest and dark feathers in the ear region. The plumage of a male is brown at the top and pale white at the bottom with thin grey stripes. The female is much larger with slate grey plumage at the top and grey at the bottom. A young hawk has brown plumage above and striped brown below. In addition, the white eye stripe is less conspicuous.
