Heath near Laren, Anton Mauve, 1887 Mauve painted from 1882 in Laren, a village on barren heathland with a few trees and bushes here and there. The flocks of sheep on the heath became a favourite subject. In his studio, he processed the studies he had made outside into large compositions.
