Hidden from the world, so does this Baroque-era man. Hidden behind a large butterfly. As befits the Baroque era, this man is lavishly dressed with lace on his velvet coat and lace and ruffles on his white shirt. His curly long hair, no doubt a wig, hangs well over the middle of his back. The colour of the hair is blue, almost as blue as the sky, a little darker, of course, so that it contrasts well. Perhaps that blue hair is the reason for his concealment behind that big butterfly. Yet his posture does express self-confidence and perhaps even arrogance. The sky as a background underlines this even more clearly. Whatever his reason for being hidden is for you to determine. The colours used in this surrealist work are bright and fresh. Orange, blue, brown, white and some black have been used. An intriguing work that no doubt raises many questions.
