About ‘Hitchhiker on Fuerteventura’ by Matthias Stolt

I photographed the hitchhiker in her swimsuit on the island of Fuerteventura. I had arrived a few days earlier with a model for a photo shoot to find a suitable location. I arranged this photo on the road to the airport. I didn't have to wait long before a car appeared in the distance. The road surrounded by dark lava rock provided a striking contrast to the model in her orange swimsuit and yellow suitcase. The photo was taken with an analogue SLR camera with a zoom lens on slide film.

Meet the artist

Matthias Stolt

Hamburg, Germany

I worked as a freelance photo designer for 25 years. My focus was on fashion and advertising photography. I am also the author of numerous books and articles in trade magazines.
Before becoming self-employed, I worked in marketing for a large camera manufacturer, where I was in charge of public relations.

I discovered my love of photography during my training as a retoucher. This sparked a desire not only to edit photos, but to take them myself.
