About the artwork

Of greylag chickens I can't get enough. This is because I have worked with them for years also in Groningen this species occurs.
The food here in the Netherlands from the attenuated landscapes do not offer him enough support. What in Spain there is still too much to get.
This raptor species so characteristic of Ester Madura breeds on the ground.
In with Extremadura, you still have them colonies of this species. Early in the morning, the males go out to provide the first prey for a youngster in the nest further away....
Of course, there are more species of Hen Harrier such as the Steppe Harrier or the Hen Harrier but also the Marsh Harrier which generally prefers to nest in the reeds.
By now I do feel a harrier specialist, because I have been everywhere they occur both in Spain and in Africa.
In Senegal, for example, the species hibernates where they sit together in large groups in one place when they go to roost.
The heat can be a all kinds of areas where they bleed.
Overwhelming for us, but not for him as he sits comfortably on his resting post to wait there or what is to come.
That there is still plenty of food is shown by the fact that he always stays close to the colony and it does not take long for him to return.
The Netherlands sometimes takes up to three hours before the male returns with a mouse.
Most years in the Netherlands, mice are poor.
