About ‘Husk Sweet Chestnut’ by Manuel Declerck

What do we humans have in common with wild boars? We also like a fruit from a tame chestnut tree! For the sake of completeness: squirrels, jays, crows and mice also like to eat them. Not to mention the numerous insect species that find such fruit a plum! And to be even more complete: the fruits of the horse chestnut, on the other hand, are poisonous and can not be eaten.
Bolsters of the sweet chestnut are pretty prickly. These spines serve as a form of defense against a premature attack by birds and squirrels.
