About ‘I DON'T KNOW’ by IIM Series

I don't know/Je ne sais pas: This illustration shows a blown-out candle. The flame has disappeared, only a thin wisp of smoke remains visible. The image symbolises a moment when something stops, but not everything has disappeared. It is the moment of silence after an expectation, after a question, after a thought. The work is about not knowing. About those situations in which you have no answer, cannot find the words, or simply do not understand what you are feeling. People often think that you should always be able to say or explain something. But sometimes you just don't know. And sometimes no one notices that you don't know. With the words "Je ne sais pas", the illustration emphasises that it is okay to be uncertain. Nobody is perfect. Nobody always has a solution ready. The work invites you to be gentle with yourself and others. Not knowing is not a weakness, but a human trait.
