About the artwork

Lemmer is a town in the municipality of De Friese Meren in the province of Friesland.

Lemmer lies on the IJsselmeer and the Frisian lakes and is one of Friesland's best-known water sports resorts. In the summer months, Lemmer is a busy seaside resort and attracts not only tourists but also many people from surrounding towns. Due to its favourable location in relation to the Randstad, Lemmer attracts many residents from outside Friesland.

The first Lemsters settled where the Rien and the Zijlroede merge. When exactly they did so is not known. Lemmer is mentioned in the early 14th century, but even earlier, in 1228, it appears under the name Lenna among the documents of the bishop of the diocese of Utrecht. Gradually, a settlement grew at the outlet of the inland waters into the Zuiderzee, a prime location for merchants and craftsmen.

Lemmer was located on the Zuiderzee in a vulnerable place and was often brought under Dutch influence, but eventually Lemmer became one of the most important fishing towns in the Netherlands, thanks in part to its fleet of 146 ships. With the arrival of Flevoland and the Afsluitdijk, this diminished considerably. Lemmer mainly has a central function for southern Friesland and northern Flevoland.

Lemmer is particularly beautiful at dusk under windless conditions.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
