About ‘In Confluence II – Entanglement’ by Whale & Sons

In *Confluence II — Entanglement*, the same colour palette becomes denser and more complex. Cobalt blue, coral, soft pink, cream and subtle touches of turquoise are woven into a network of overlapping shapes. Large masses of colour are intersected by narrow bands, openings and angular transitions. As a result, there is no clear centre: the eye continues to move through the composition.

The work revolves around entanglement. Forms no longer exist entirely independently, but are defined by what happens in front of, behind and between them. Some contours disappear into adjacent fields of colour and reappear further on. This creates an image of systems that become interconnected and can no longer be easily separated from one another.

The composition combines organic movement with moments of almost architectural structure. It is this contrast that gives the work its tension. The grainy edges soften the geometry and keep the transition between colours open.

Within the series, this is the most compact and rhythmically complex work: less focused on individual forms and more on the dynamics of the whole.
