In the last light – evening atmosphere at Lake Predil

by Rolf Schnepp

Lake Predil (Lago del Predil) in the Julian Alps of northern Italy is at its most atmospheric in the last light of day. Surrounded by imposing mountain ranges and forests ablaze with autumn colours, this alpine lake offers a stunning natural backdrop. The low-hanging evening sun bathes the wooded mountain slopes in warm golden and orange hues, whilst the mighty rock formations in the background are already bathed in the cooler light of the fading day. A light haze in the distance lends the mountain landscape additional depth and emphasises its almost mystical atmosphere.

The almost mirror-smooth surface of Lake Predil is particularly enchanting. It reflects the surrounding mountains, the autumnal forests and the bright evening sky, creating a fascinating, almost symmetrical landscape composition. The contrast between the warm autumn colours and the cool blue and turquoise tones of the water lends the photograph a harmonious colour scheme.

This landscape photograph conveys the tranquillity and vastness of alpine nature and captures a special moment at Lake Predil in Italy. An atmospheric image for lovers of the mountains, autumnal landscapes and striking nature photography.
