In the middle of nowhere – winter landscape

by AidasignArt

Amidst icy gorges, rugged mountain peaks and snow-covered forests, a winter wonderland of almost unreal beauty unfolds. Frozen caves open up in the rock faces, small houses nestle alongside winding paths, and a narrow river winds its way through the deeply terraced landscape. Above it all stretches a midnight-blue sky, in which stars and a crescent moon shine. Like golden veins, fine lines run through the relief-like layers of rock and snow, linking the individual elements of the landscape into a fascinating composition.

The three-dimensionally modelled forms create pronounced differences in elevation and an almost sculptural sense of depth. Cool ice-blue and radiant white meet dark green, rich ruby red and warm golden accents. The result is an expressive, richly detailed winter landscape that hovers between alpine fantasy and surreal relief art.

This work, from the series ‘The Middle of Nowhere – In the Middle of Nowhere’, charmingly turns expectations of classical landscape painting on their head with its unusual form and quirky humour. Here, even winter seems to take a slight detour – and anyone who gets lost is at least rewarded with a spectacular view.

Whether as a standalone eye-catcher, a harmonious diptych or, together with the two related works, as a triptych: this relief artwork makes its mark throughout the winter season and is by no means limited to the Christmas period.
