About the artwork
The artwork in the form of a panorama unfolds an abstract seascape with an impressive sensual and material presence. Applied in impasto, relief-like layers, the acrylic paint rises almost sculpturally from the canvas - a lively terrain of structure, colour and energy.
The picture surface is criss-crossed by rectangular, fragmented tiles that move across the sea like drifting floes. On the left-hand side, warm orange tones dominate, exuding a shimmering heat. Towards the right, these colour areas gradually transform into cool blue nuances; in the upper area, some tiles appear in radiant white - as if light were dancing on a moving surface. These geometric fragments appear fragmented and at the same time connected - fleeting excerpts of a larger, changing context.
A sea wave arches into the picture from the right-hand side. It is streaked with white spray and an inner dynamic that carries power and movement. Large and small circles dance on its crest - partly floating, partly embedded in the blue. These spherical forms lend the work an almost floating lightness, as if they were mediating between the poles of chaos and order.
