The Inntal chain, commonly called the Nordkette because of its location north of Innsbruck, is the southernmost and shortest of the four mountain ranges in the Karwendel mountains.
The Hafelekar on the Nordkette is 2,300 metres high and is probably the most spectacular viewpoint in Innsbruck.
Innsbruck is the capital of the federal state of Tyrol in western Austria. With just over 130,000 inhabitants, it is the most populous city in Tyrol and the fifth largest city in Austria. Innsbruck is a popular winter sports centre in the Alps. The Nordketten cable car takes you from the city centre up to an altitude of 2,256 m.
The old town with its historic buildings such as the Golden Roof, the Hofburg and the Ottoburg is located right in the centre of the city. The old town centre is easy to explore on foot. Everything is traffic-calmed and easily accessible. The Nordkette mountain range can be seen in the background, which is particularly picturesque. The narrow alleyways are perfect for a stroll.
