Vienna is a beautiful city full of magnificent buildings, both outside and inside.
Besides the widely known Schönbrunn Palace, we also visited the colourful haus and several beautiful churches including St Peter's Church and the magnificent St Stephen's Cathedral during our short city break.
Vienna's library or Österreichische Nationalbibliothek is also well worth checking out. The entrance fee is €10 and once inside the library you'll feast your eyes. So many details....
I read that as many as 8 million books are housed in the scientific library but it is mainly the layout of the library that surprises.
The ceilings of Vienna's library are full of the most beautiful paintings and you'll find ornate, wooden bookcases everywhere.
The library does remind me a little of the one in Coimbra or the Livraria Lello in Porto. A fairy-tale place that you can easily check out within an hour. (Also nice when it rains in Vienna ;) )
Highly recommended!
