We are made up of many different aspects. Thoughts, moods and facets that do not always fit together, yet are all part of who we are. They overlap, contradict one another and yet hold each other together. Finding oneself can also mean not resolving all contradictions, but rather accepting the diversity within us.

Green, pink, yellow and black body forms overlap to form a multi-layered figure. Lines and areas of colour intertwine, remaining independent in places whilst at the same time holding each other together to form a single shape.

The original measures 30x40cm, acrylic on paper

In my painting, I explore self-perception and transformation. I am interested in those moments when familiar notions of ourselves begin to waver and new possibilities emerge, without it yet being clear where they will lead.

My figures dissolve, change shape and come together again in unexpected ways. Lines and bodily forms make inner movements visible: circling thoughts, uncertainty and the search for one’s own self.

I wish to capture states of transition in which contradictions are allowed to coexist and change does not require a fixed direction. I am interested in what can emerge when we do not have to hold on to everything or explain it immediately.
