Thick, weathered rope, carefully coiled and knotted, hangs against a dark background. Each strand shows traces of use, of salt and wind that have left their story in it. It is more than a functional object. It is a silent witness of journeys across the water, of docking and departing, of waiting and moving again.
The rope is rough but also rhythmically woven. The strands twist around each other in a perfect balance of strength and flexibility. In the sunlight, subtle shades of colour emerge, from almost white to deep beige. These shades emphasise the texture and reveal how intensely this material has been used.
In the background, water remains vaguely visible, as if watching from a distance the tool it has met so many times before. The composition is simple but loaded with meaning.
