Photo art depicting a clump of blue bearded Iris sitting on the edge of an olive grove in the Italian countryside. Just behind the iris you can see the branches and leaves of the olive trees. To the right of the image, also behind the irises, are a couple of branches of a fig tree with bunches of figs clearly visible.
In the drought of the summer of 2022, these irises were looking glorious until the porcupines started to lose their normal source of food. They decimated the iris in order to eat the tubers in the soil. So these iris no longer exist! But the porcupines survived and went on to have a baby so that is really more important, don't you think?
