The inspiration for this work arose from the desire to visualise the graphic quality of this plant. The iris combines both symmetry and organic irregularity in its shape. I was particularly fascinated by the interplay of light and texture - how the surface of the petals changes in the diffuse daylight and gains depth.
With this picture I want to create a calm but focussed atmosphere. It invites you to focus on the details and discover the beauty in the structure. The message is simple: be mindful of what is often overlooked.
