In Buddhist temples a light burns for Buddha. Where in the West they are candles, in the East they are often chalices filled with yak butter. Those lamps burn fine, but at the same time they disgust us terribly. That's one of the reasons why these days the lamps often burn on lettuce oil. Less traditional, but more practical.
