Bonn is a city in Germany, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, located on the Rhine River 20 km south of Cologne. Bonn gained more influence and grew strongly during this time. The Dutch stadholder William III conquered the city in 1673 during the Dutch War with 12,000 soldiers and a small Brandenburg army from the bishops of Cologne and Münster, who were thus forced to accept peace. The capture of the city also meant that the French supply lines were cut off, forcing the French king Louis XIV to withdraw from the Netherlands after his massive attack on it in 1672 with 120,000 men.
The Siebengebirge is a low mountain range in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia that lies east of the Rhine, southeast of Bonn.
