Justitia – In the golden light of truth by AidasignArt

In this expressive work of art from the series * "Art for Offices"*, Justitia, the Roman goddess and timeless icon of justice, appears as a powerful, almost majestic female figure. In a thick, relief-like painting style, her appearance is distilled into a symbol of justice, impartiality and the responsibility of judgement.

Three classical attributes define her symbolism: the scales represent the careful examination of facts and the balancing of conflicting interests; the sword embodies the consistency and severity of the law as pronounced; whilst the blindfold stands for impartiality and equality before the law.

Her robe combines the grace of an ancient sovereign with the strength of armour. Wine-red and blue hues lend her appearance dignity and depth, whilst a powerfully billowing blue cloak brings movement and dynamism to the composition. The figure and the sword are deliberately cropped at the knee, thereby enhancing the monumental effect.

Against the understated grey background, partial areas of gold gleam like precious traces of power and value. Behind Justitia’s head rises a large, radiant golden sun – at once an aura, a source of light and a symbol of truth, hope and the timeless power of justice.
