Katsukawa Shunsho (1726-1792) was an outstanding Japanese ukiyo-e artist in the 18th century. He is best known for his masterful portraits of Kabuki actors, which impress with their vivid depiction and use of bold colours and lines. Shunsho played an important role in the development and establishment of this art movement and significantly influenced later generations of ukiyo-e artists.
