The Kestrel is a typical bird of the agricultural landscape, open countryside, along roads and in orchards. There must be a few high trees or lookouts in the landscape where they can nest. It does not build nests itself, but nests in nest boxes, old crow nests and in or on buildings. Roadside verges, field edges, dike vegetation, overhangs and rugged vegetation are the ideal places for kestrels to look for their favorite prey.
