About ‘Kinderdijk 15’ by John Ouwens

Molens van Kinderdijk in het ochtendlicht.

De molens van Kinderdijk betreffen negentien molens in het noordwesten van de Alblasserwaard, een streek in de provincie Zuid-Holland. Alhoewel ze worden aangeduid als behorend tot het dorpje Kinderdijk (gemeente Molenwaard) ligt één molen net daarbuiten (De Blokker), in de gemeente Alblasserdam.

Het gaat om poldermolens, die twee molengangen vormen en een grote (ook internationale) toeristische trekpleister zijn. Alle negentien molens van het complex zijn eigendom van de Stichting Werelderfgoed Kinderdijk. Sinds 1997 staan ze op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO en het gebied is tevens een beschermd dorpsgezicht. De molenrijen zijn alleen te voet of per fiets goed te bezichtigen. Eén van de molens, vrij dicht bij de bebouwing van Kinderdijk, is ook van binnen te bezichtigen.

In the late sixties I was born in Rotterdam and after some wanderings I ended up in Kinderdijk, a lovely village in the Alblasserwaard, famous for its windmills and vast polder landscape. About 30 years ago I bought my first SLR camera, the period of regularly going to the development center with my knees buckling to see what results I had shot (and then being proud of the result). About 7.5 years later I got rid of the camera for various reasons, but…

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
