By crawling in and out of the nest each time, a lot of sand gets into the plumage. Kingfishers therefore spend extra time in spring keeping up this plumage. Witnessing this behaviour from a very short distance, it allows me to take a close-up of the action, which thus creates an almost abstract image. With the focus beautifully on the eye, this will be a real eye-catcher on your wall. For more than 25 years, I have been enchanted by the beauty and lifestyle of these beautiful birds.
